CHRIS ADAMS: Music

Moving Up (Here in a Small Town)

(Chris Adams)
Moving Up (Here in a small town)

V1
There’s something going on in this town
Call it progress if you can
With the builders and the corporations eating up the land

They’re gonna hold a public meeting
On the growth of the county plan (where they pretend to give a damn)
And explain to us poor ignorant souls the county’s plan

Chorus:

Yeah, the farms are growing two story houses
And the Wal-Mart is coming next year
Yeah, the neighborhood association
Is so glad you’re here
And the County board of supervisors
Saying, “everybody, just settle down”
Cause we’re moving up here in a small town

V2
The backroads that I grew up on
Are starting to look like a traffic jam
And I think all this progress is really getting out of hand

Yeah the reason everyone wants to live (move) here
Is because of the way things used to be
And as soon as it’s all overcrowded
They’ll pack up and leave

Bridge:
You got, one chance to get this right
So you better start slowing it down
Won’t be long till there’s nothing left of our town
